The first time La Sureña Blues played at Anfi del Mar, they were called in at the last minute as a stand-in for the Cuban band that pulled out of this regular gig. They now play there regularly on Saturdays, starting at 20:30. Come along and see them - they're gooood.
As well as tracks from their studio session, such as the Vargas Blues Band's "Texas Tango" they played a brilliant slow-starting cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Proud Mary", which changed to a fast punchy beat part way through, and several Skeeter Brandon songs.
La Sureña go from good to better with covers of blues and rock classics such as Muddy Waters' Hoochie Coochie Man, the Rolling Stones' "Not Fade Away", not forgetting Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water".
